  • First Time Travel - Naturalized Citizen - Didn't update the immi status with Social Security Office

First Time travel after becoming US citizen. I have not updated the social security office on my immigration status. Will this be a problem at the airport even though I have the US passport in hand?
I know I have to update the social security office but in the frenzy of travel, it's something that may have to wait.

Thanks lvnp! That's little anti climactic .. So I have got nothing to worry about updating the SSA office for the purpose of international travel? I thought they do checks on port of entry using SSN and althought passport is a proof of citizenship ..SSN database may indicate otherwise ..

Most people don't know to update their status with Social Security after naturalization (since they already had the "with DHS authorization" text removed when they were permanent residents, they believe there is nothing further to do). I had traveled in and out of the U.S. numerous times over the years after naturalization before I updated my status with Social Security.

I have yet to update my status as well. I traveled a few times out of the US and came back with no problem. SSA has nothing to do with travel documents.
